Photo Sessions - Where + When
Choosing the perfect setting
When it comes to creating stunning, memorable photographs, the right location sets the stage for success.
We understand the significance of scouting out exceptional locations, and we take pride in our meticulous attention to detail. From urban landscapes to picturesque natural settings, we've scoured various locales to identify the idyllic spots for your photo session. Our goal is to ensure that every aspect aligns with your preferences, from the level of privacy to the aesthetic ambiance.
Upon your session booking we will discuss the various location options.
The best time of day for photos
Besides choosing the right location for your photo session, it’s important to shoot during the right time of day. Every photographer has a little different way of doing things, this is how we do them!
Please note: Most of our sessions take place during golden hour. We prefer the sun to be low in the sky to avoid harsh overhead light.
If it ends up being overcast on the day of your session, we love overcast days as there is no sun restrictions and we can virtually shoot anywhere that is pretty. Overcast generally creates a nice soft light everywhere which can make for very nice photos. The only thing we may do is ask you arrive a little bit earlier as it gets darker earlier on overcast days.
Here are some other tips about morning, mid-day, and sunset shoots:
Morning - For the best morning light, aim to shoot within 1-2 hours of sunrise. Because of the difficulty for many people to be camera-ready (ourselves included) at those very early hours, we generally don’t encourage morning shoots unless there is absolutely no other time we can meet up.
Mid-day - While we don’t recommend shooting in the middle of the day, we know sometimes this is just went events take place. If this is the case for your session, we will look for areas to shoot with full shade to avoid any harsh shadows or sun spots. We will be a little more limited on locations.
Sunset Shoot - This is the BEST time of day to do outdoor photography. About 1-2 hours before the sun is low and soft in the sky and allows for the best lighting. All of our fall family sessions are scheduled within these hours.
